Hi guys , i’m having a basic problem with importing Rpf to AE , i created an animation in Max , i gave each material a number and then rendered to Rpf (checked V on z depth and all the rest ) – and then of course – import the RPF to Ae – now , i add a glow effect to one of my objects but i don’t know how can i assign the effect specificly to the material i desired … ( as i said before – i gave each material a number back in MAX .. )

    Thanks A head
    Roy .

I haven’t had the pleasure of working with embedded 3D data in AE yet. But I can tell you that the Effect>3D Channel>3D Channel Extract is what you’re looking for. You’ll want to set the 3D Channel property to Material ID then change the black and white points to be more consistent with the IDs present in the channel.

After that you might need to Effect>Keying>Extract the specific material you want from the image and use it as a matte.
