Round trip to Soundtrack Pro Grayed Out
My problem is that the option to send individual audio clips on a roundtrip to Soundtrack Pro via the control click “Send to” option to Soundtrack Pro does not seem to work on my system.
In training videos on this topic they simply control click on a sound clip and the option to Send To STP Audio File Project/Multitrack Project are lit up.
On my system they are grayed out as is the File>Send to route. Everything else seems to work in both programs and I’ve tried trashing the preferences and that does not solve this.
Here are some details about my system:
My System:
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
Number Of Processors: 2
Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP11.005C.B08
SMC Version: 1.7f10My Software:
Final Cut Pro 6.04
Soundtrack Pro 2.0.2 (602A91)
The files were shot on a Panasonic HVX200 P2 camera set to 1080i/24p.
They were brought into FCP via Log & Transfer.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far to resolve this:
In addition to trashing and restoring my preferences, on advice from the great Larry Jordan I did and made sure of the following things. None of this worked:
Do a Safe Boot and Repair permissions. This article will explain how:
https://www.larryjordan.biz/articles/lj_trouble.html
1) Make sure you haven’t restarted while holding the Shift key down
2) Make sure Soundtrack Pro is installed
3) Make sure you are selecting only ONE clip to Send to an Audio File project
4) Make sure you have plenty of free space on your hard drives
5) Make sure you are not running FCP 6.0 or 6.0.1
6) Make sure you are not running any version of 10.4 except 10.4.11.
7) – or – Make sure you are running a version of 10.5 starting with 10.5.2.
8) Make sure you are not running Quicktime 7.2.0, 7.3.0, 7.4.0, or 7.4.1
I should add that I get the same problem on both my desktop computer and my Macbook Pro 4.1.
I also got this advice from Jordan about using the Open in Editor option that is available when I control click on an audio clip:
“There’s nothing wrong with using Open in Editor – EXCEPT that it will, by default, open the clip as an Audio File project AND it is altering the source clip on your hard disk, not a copy. This means that you need to be VERY careful in what you are doing as you are altering the master clip. However, the round-tripping works the same as Send to.”
I have tried to run FCP under a new user name to see if the problem may be something related to my account. That didn’t work.I’m wondering if I have a conflict with some obscure other application or if I should try removing some other sound-related apps from my system to see if that works. If not the only other thing I can think to do would be to totally remove all the FCP Studio apps from my desktop computer and see if reinstalling everything fixes this.
If you have any thoughts about these options I’d appreciate it. For example: I don’t see an uninstaller so how would I go about safely and totally removing all the FCP Studio apps if it comes to that?
Thanks for any help of advice.
