Maybe I’m just missing something here, but it seems that when I use the “Roughen Edges” effect on text, and later the next needs to be motion blurred, that the motion blur is lost.

I’ve tried using “Force Motion Blur” in the fx stack after roughen edges, but that seems to turn the Roughen Edges effect off completely.

Right now I keyframed the “edge sharpness” parameter in “Roughen Edges” to change to 0 whenever there’s a movement, but that’s far from ideal.

    Anyone know a better workaround?

At the risk of sounding like a simpleton, did you try precomposing the roughen edges layer then adding motion blur to the precomp?

Aha – You have to precompose with motion blur OFF, then add the “force motion blur” plugin to the precomp within your new comp. Still no idea why… Just another AE anomaly I guess?

    Thanks Jim!
