While awaiting the arrival of the full version of Resolve, I am testing with Resolve Lite.
Using a ProRes422HQ 1920×1080 23.98fps as source, Resolve is playing back in fits.
With no grade applied, the sound and picture start and stop abruptly during playback.
Am I missing a playback setting?
How do I determine if the Quadro 4000 is being utilized by Resolve?
Thanks in advance for any trouble shooting tips.

    Hi,

If you are using OSX 10.6.8, please remember to install the Q4000 driver for OSX, and also install CUDA 4.0.19/4.0.21.

For the 2008 Mac Pro, you can set the video monitoring to 8-bit to get better playback.

    Regards,
    Rohit

You may also see, if you can playback you prores QT file by itself. You may have a drive that is too slow or it may be to fragmented.

Ah yes, I remember reading about the 2008 MacPro requiring 8-bit playback settings. I’ll give that a shot on Monday.

Even though playback was choppy I did a rough grade and rendered out a uncompressed 10-bit QuickTime. Both the ProRes and uncompressed QTs play back beautifully in QuickTime Player. I’m using an internal 4-drive software RAID-0 so I doubt that drive speed is an issue. The BlackMagic Speed Test redlines at around 430mb/s read/write on this RAID.

Can you cats tell me how to verify that Resolve is indeed utilizing the Quadro 4000? It appears in the system profile, so I know the MacPro sees it.

As Rohit said, did you install the drivers?

I installed the latest drivers and switched the playback settings to 8bit and everything appears to be working well. Thank you guys for your help!
