    Hello There,I am using the spectramatte fx on some green screen footage,what i am having a big headache is rotoscoping the hair on somebody head(long hair that gets thinner in the ends) – i am playing with the value inside the fx – like tolerence and erode but failing to get to a good result

    would like to know if anyone has some advice or workflow around this probleme,the

    maaaan, I’d not tear into trying to rotoscope hair strands. lol You may get a better key grom the BCC keyer. I often do. Outside of that, of course keylight in AE is yer buddy. I only use Avid’s keyers when pinched for time.

    yeha i know about doing it in AE (but strongly want to stay in avid) but bcc is a good idea i will try it,thanks.

    Good Key results often take multiple keys combined to get those good results. Pull a key that keeps the nice hair detail, don’t use erode it will only hard clip your edges. Select output matte. Pull a second key for the middle area, use erode here. Select output matte. If you have something like Gen arts sapphire you can combine these using layer selecting a blend mode. Or you can use paint on top of the matte output to get a similar result. Place a matte key on top of these and now you should have a key with greater edge control. Add as many as necessary. I agree other programs make this process easier. Some keyers have this functionality built in. It’s that balance of how quickly vs how good.
