    Rotoscoping Question

    Hi guys,

    I have this shot I’m working on at the moment in which a man walks across a scene and, into this scene, I am trying to composite a helicopter. The thing thats troubling me is I need the man to appear to be infront of the helicopter.

    Now, obviously I could draw a mask around the man and animate it frame by frame but I was wondering if there were any better/quicker options which could solve this task?

    Hi Will,

    For something like this you’ll really need to rotoscope. You can make your life easier by drawing separate masks around each leg, the torso, head, etc… But there’s no shortcut around this. Hope this helps!

    I can vouch for Carl’s DVD. If you don’t know much about roto, you will be much better off watching this before you do the work.
