Hi, I’m trying to use the Roto Brush tool, but when I have it selected and try to use it, all it does is drag the object in question around, as if the selection tool is active. I’ve tried different things, like adjusting the resolution and restarting the software. One thing I noticed while troubleshooting is that the same exact problem also happens when the Brush, Clone Stamp, and Eraser tools are selected, if that information helps. This is a really weird, seemingly stupid issue that I feel probably has a simple answer, but I have no idea what’s going on. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks, Matt

I figured it out. Essentially all those tools are brushes; you need to double click the layer you want to apply the brush to so that it opens in its own layer panel. For all others who run into this brain fart problem.

I’m so pleased you figured it out (I wasn’t sure from your description what was happening) and thank you for posting the solution too, for the next victim of brain farts.

Nice work glad you figured it out.

In case you, or anyone, runs into this… (it gave me a headache for a while!)

Sometimes when using rotobrush, the option to alter the brush size is greyed out (in the brushes panel). The solution, or so I’ve found, is to select the other paintbrush tool in the toolbar and then reselect the roto brush brush, and like magic the size options are un-greyed
