Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Rotating text about edge of character

  • Rotating text about edge of character

I am trying to rotate a character about it’s outer edge. I am trying to simulate an effect where a letter in a sign falls down – imagine the letter J on a signpost, fixed at the top and bottom of the letter, and the top fixing point comes loose, so the letter falls down, pivoting about the fixing point at the bottom of the letter.

Browsing the forum, I cam across one suggestion which referred to some 3d alpha facilities only available in vegas pro – and I am a VMS user…

I can get a letter to rotate about itscentral axis no problem, but I cannot see how to move the rotating axis off-center, whilst keeping the latter in the same X axis – any attempt I try seems to want to rotate it about a point, but not with the point on the actual letter…

Would anybody familiar with the text ‘limitations’ of VMS have any suggestions on how to rotate text about a single axis, off-center, with the pivot point on the actual letter itself.

    Many thanks,

    Stewart Bourke

See if using the Pan/Crop window as described below does what you need.

    Mike,

As usual, many thanks. In all my messing about I obviously missed this simple step – worked perfectly…

    Thanks

    Stewart
