rotated video, now I have black bars, How to remove them?
I am very new to using premiere pro. I took a video with my smartphone as the content of a project. I imported the video and needed to rotate it 90 degrees. It was originally 1280 x 720 but I changed it to 720 x 1280. Instead of wide, I need it tall. I went under effects control – motion – rotation.
But now on the screen has black bars on the sides since rotating it, and when I export the basic video settings is greyed out, so I can’t cahnge it. it is set/fixed at 1280 x 720 with the black bars.How can I remove the side black bars in premiere pro to fit the dimensions of the newly rotated video?

the only thing you can do is transform the image so it fits the screen.
just go into the effects tab and click the arrow by the motion tab and then click the transform tab and then use the scale tab to scale the image.or just double click the footage and scale it up just like you would do in Photoshop.

HD displays are 16:9. When you rotated your phone, you shot 9:16 video. Unless you are willing to rotate your TV, you’ll have to deal with the your very tall video in a very wide frame.
I’m rather fond of the two-layer approach. Copy your 9:16 video onto a second video track. On the lower track, stretch the video out, add quite a bit of blur, and darken it a bit. This will give you a nice, abstract 16:9 background for your 9:16 video that will always match the content.
On the upper track, add a little drop shadow or glow to separate it from the background.
