  • Rotate Logos on an Oval Path in After Effects

Posted by Sean Platt on January 16, 2024 at 4:22 pm

Hey all. I am a bit stumped. Probably something pretty simple I am just missing. I have logos arranged in an oval fashion. I am trying to get them to rotate around an oval path while maintaining their position in relation to each other. Rotating around a circle (center null) won’t work in this case because of the oval design. But again, I might be missing something here.

Suggestions? Thank you for your help.

maybe try, select the oval path (the actual path when unfurled), then paste that onto the position of each logo and offset, maybe use an expression too, such as loopOut().

Might get you some of the way

Thanks, Andy. I had done that but missed something as incredibly simple as offsetting the keyframes. I was making this way harder than it should’ve been trying to rack my brain with expressions 🤣.

Yes, I have to do this often. Animate one logo going around the oval. Duplicate it for however many logos you have. Ofset keyframes to taste then just replace the art logos on each duplicate. Super simple. Adjust scale to taste for each logo but still maintain relative distance
