It has CMOS…yes. But instead of one big CMOS, it has three smaller ones, kinda like having 3CCD. But, CMOS being CMOS, there is rolling shutter.

The 300 has Rolling Shutter.

Look at the HPX-500. DVCPRO HD, but it does 1080. If you need AVCIntra, then look at the HPX-2600. This is a very versatile camera.

I would concur with Shane that if the rolling shutter artifact cannot be lived with. I mean there is a fix you can apply in post on the singular annoying frame, or frames, then a CCD camera is the way to go. The HPX500 is the next camera up the line, and the next one up with AVC-Inta is the HPX2700.

There is no such camera as the HPX2600. Shane had a typo, it is an AJ-HPX2700.

DVCPRO HD has a prefiter in 1920 X 1080, making it 1280 X 1080 at 60Hz or 1440 X 1080 in 50Hz. AVC-Intra, available on the HPX300 and the HPX2700 has a full raster recorind at 1920 X 1080.

Hi Mark,
CMOS cameras don’t have to have rolling shutters. There are some CMOS sensors around that have a global shutter like CCD, it comes down to the manufacturer as to how they equip their products.
