Rocket Smoke/Vapor Trail?
Greetings. Just learning AE CS3 and was wondering how I might go about creating a smoke/vapor trail for a launching rocket. Haven’t found any clear ideas from the tutorials I’ve been doing.
Not asking for a step-by-step, just a pointer in the right direction for further self-learning. Thanks!

I haven’t played TOO much with the “Fractal Noise” effect other than to do a forcefield.. I’ve seen it used as smoke in a few tutorials but nothing I can remember..
just play with the settings and masking until you find something you like…
could do a search for “fractal noise smoke tutorial” and see what comes up

The answer is in fractal noise and Chris Zwar has a great tutorial on using it here at the COW. He explains the ins and outs of using it but smoke is not one of his examples. But since you said you are not looking for a step by step hand-hold, this article will teach you what you need to know.

I’d use Foam. No hand-holding available.
Or any of the CC Particle systems. No hands there, either. Long experience and endless experimentation.bogiesan
