  • Ring Effect without Particular?

I’m looking to re-create an effect I saw on YouTube, similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLbvI9Te_Zg

I really like this whole tunnel effect, and I know how to do everything but those rings which appear to spiral out while they were created. Anybody have any idea how to create something similar to this in after effects (hopefully) without particular?

you could probably create something similar with the saber plugin…and a lot of playing around with the settings…might suggest to start on the windy preset

Do you mean the flame effect, or the rings coming out from the centre?

If it’s the firey effect, then Particle World/Fractal Noise with Vector Blur will get you close.

If it’s the rings bit, then you could either create a bunch of 3D solids in a tunnel and fly a camera along it (more control) or you could use the Radio Waves effect. Radio Waves will even take the contours of a pre-comped flame and use that as the tunnel’s shape.

    Tutorials that might help:

    Video Copilot Energy wipe
    Video Copilot Shockwaves

I haven’t been able to find a tutorial on radio waves, but this YouTube video shows what’s possible – Radio Waves

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions! I’m loading up Saber right now, looks like that might be the ticket. I appreciate your willingness to help out a new user! Have a wonderful day 🙂
