Rig/parenting
Helo all. I am a c4d novice at best. I am working on a project now that requires some IK, parenting and priorities. i’m sure it’s nothing big but i just can’t seem to get it down. i feel like i’m an inch away from getting it but then it breaks.
basically the object has a stand that flips out. that’s the IK part. no problem got that working. then the stand connects to another object that rotates itself and the stand. but then in the animation i need the whole case to be able to rotate on its X axis. then there’s two more nulls on two of the sides that each rotate on their Z axis. then one more on the bottom of the case that also rotates on its Z axis.
the reason there are so many points that need rotation is, apparently, to make it easier to animate in the longrun. so each null does one rotation so i’m not trying to animate one null to do 5 different functions.
the rig i have set up seems to be working. everything rotates as it’s supposed to for the most part but some of the nulls higher up the hierarchy aren’t connected then (because of my lack of constraints knowledge) so when they are actually animated all of a sudden the whole thing flies out of camera view. it’s a mess.
please if anyone can help me get this working, i’m forever in your debt. i’ve been searching for tuts and found a couple but nothing that gets as in depth on an object as this is getting with parenting.
if anyone can help please let me know and i will send/post the file.
thanks a ton in advance.
