  • Right FCP settings for AJA

Hi Guys, I’m working on a DVCPRO HD 1080i60 timeline and trying to downconvert to my beta sp deck. I’m seeing test bars from the Kona LH on ext monitor connected to the uvw1800 deck via component but not seeing picture from the timeline ( I am getting audio to my monitor via uvw1800 beta deck. I know the Kona is talking to the deck/ext monitor so I must have a setting wrong in FCP. I used a dvcpro hd easy setup to match the timeline. Audio playback is set to aja kona (working!) but what’s the video playback supposed to be set to??? I’ve tried many settings and can’t get a picture out to the deck. Many thanks for your time and attention to this matter. I know it’s me – so be gentle with your reprimands!! Kind Regards, Chris K.

Video Playback setting in FCP must match the timeline. AJA (your card) 1080i 29.97 DVCProHD is the normal setting for 1080i60

Then in AJA control panel Analog out needs to be set to Secondary 525i29.97 and then set the down convert conversion to Letterbox, Crop or Anamorphic.

Then also make sure A/V Settings > A/V Devices does not have Different Out for EDIT/Print to Video set wrong.

Thanks to all that posted. A previous editor had upgraded to FCP 6 but not the AJA drivers/control panel. I had to reload the updated AJA control panel and drivers and restart the computer a couple of times before it took. Once I did this, I was able to access the right settings and immediately I got signal to the deck/ext monitor. Many thanks for your helpful posts!
    Kind Regards,
    Chris K.
