April 21, 2010 at 3:32 pmC4D has good rigging tools but CD’s plugins add some abilities and utilities to speed up the process. One of the main advantages to CD’s system is that it provides for zeroing of joints without having to add nulls for each one. In other words, you can set your initial pose and then set all of the joints’ local rotations to zero, which makes it easier if you want to add expressions. In order to do that with the native tools you have to place every joint in a null and then manually zero out local rations for each joint.

April 21, 2010 at 7:00 pmThanks a lot thats very useful information, would you recommend a combination of both or stick with one or the other? I already have a basic understanding of c4d rigging. but if the CD’s plugin is a lot easier and faster i like the sound of that?
Thanks Emmet -

April 21, 2010 at 9:49 pmI don’t actually have CD’s tools as I don’t do a whole lot of haracter rigging. I’ve looked at his materials and tutorial videos several times and I was impressed with what I saw. I know several people who do a lot of rigging and they use CD’s tools. So … I don’t know how to answer that, except to say that I would get his stuff if I was doing a lot of rigging. May end up getting it eventually anyway.
