This is driving me nuts as a rigging beginner, I’m hoping I can use some help.

I use the Advanced Biped preset to rig my character. I have all limbs, head and body as separated mesh under the binding tab. All works as expected, but when I hand-painted some weight on one limb I couldn’t figure out how to mirror it to the other side. I haven’t found any tut that touches the topic of mirroring weight to a separated mesh, they all mirror weight on the same mesh. I’m pretty sure it is doable, right? I must be missing something quite simple, I’d really appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction.

Below is my set-up. I’d like to paint Arm_L and mirror it to Arm_R. BTW, I also tried turning on Symmetry under Weight Tool, but it doesn’t do anything.

Hi! Was facing the same issue a few days ago.

Hope this isn’t t late, but here is how I was able to mirror the weight:

If you go to the weight manager in your rigged mesh. On the top left, you should be able to see the option to save and load weights.

Save your completed weight of the completed side, and open the saved .txt with something like notepad++ (You only need the option to change specific words on the whole doc)
In the .txt, you should be able to see the different weights and where those are. Just change the left to right or right to left, and you should be ready to go.

Finally, back in the program, load the new weight for the mirrored mesh.

That’s how I completed it. Hope this helps!
