RGB + Alpha export problem
Hi.
I’m exporting a still image from After Effects that has transparency that I then need to import into Photoshop.
I’m getting no luck with TIFF nor PSD exports, the transparency appears black once imported into Photoshop.
I’ve tried everything, checking the RGB+Alpha of course, straight or matted, different Color bit depths…
Strangely it works when I do it in PNG, but I was hoping I could get a better result with either Tiff or PSD.
Anyone got an idea what I’m missing?

Did you try STRAIGHT or PREMULT? -
Yes tried it all.
I’m no Photoshop guru, but it seems to me that the alpha channel is there, but I need to open up the document, go into channels choose my lowest channel that’s being called Alpha 1. Then go into load channel as selection and hit delete to get where I want!
With the PNG I just drag the file into an open photoshop document and I’m in business.
I should maybe be asking these questions in the photoshop forum?

Have you tried Save Frame As > Photoshop Layers…
Make sure there are layers in that composition.

For still frames, yes.
I’m just curious, why not png? Tiff is starting to be the BMP of formats these days, where it’s only useful in specific cases. And PSD is somewhat large and inefficient for animations. I’m just curious about your use case.
I would lean toward EXR for most of my special needs, that’s why I ask. But I’d be curious if tiff or PSD would be a better fit. Although, you’re limited to 16 or 32 bit. And adobe always does some odd things when converting color. So some effects may end up being funky, like particular, or even glow.
