ok checked the help files, fiddled for a while, and before i destroy some work, id like to ask the “genius bar” (as they say at the apple store i spent an hour in waiting for a replacment ipod [sorry for the rant, but an hour, for 5 min. of work]) how do i take this circle mask that i have, and get the motion path i have to reverse, right now it’s going counter clockwise and id like it to go the other way

I think if select the layer, then do a crtl-r it’ll reverse the comp. That might work

….it also might be something about selecting a new starting vertex

Select the position keyframes (if that’s what you meant by motion path), right click (control click on a one button mouse) and in the contextual menu go to Keyframe Assitants > Time reverse keyframes.

Choose Layer > Mask > Set First Vertex

Go into AE help and type set vertex. Give you a whole rundown. But in a nutshell it sets the starting point for the mask animation. Meaning the mask shape is going to start its animation from there then to the other mask points.

ok so reverseing is awsome but adjusting the the first vertex wont work if you use a circle mask, aparantly the first vertex is un setable, the option won’t come up, what im trying to do is have a rendered “bolt” of lightning move around the edge of a crice by setting the start and end points follow around the circle, either that or have it roughly (as the lightning moves etc.) grow around the cricle, have the end point stay at 12 o’clock and the start point go entirly around it with out it going strait across
