  • Reversed Tracking including Scaling

Hi there, I am pretty new here and try to get an answer, I have asked Andrew Kramer. He has posted a tutorial on his side http://www.videocopilot.net where he used the reversed tracking to do a demon face warp.

I now have the problem, that I wanted to include the scaling properties to the rotation, anchorpoint and position.

For those who have not seen it.
He has stabilized the footage, precomposed the shot and then used expressions in both compositions to relat them to each other. He combined the position of the one comb with the anchorpoint of the second comb, the anchorpoint of the first comb with the position of the second comb and then the rotation of both comps with each others.
In order to prevend the footage of being rotated again, he multiplied the seond comp with -1.
So we thought we could do the same with the scaling properties, but it would not work that way, because the scale will turn minus and will flip around. We will have to find a way to tell the second comp to use the scaling properties of the first and fix it like this, that the object will stay in the same size.
    Can anybody follow me?

I was hoping that one of you might help me, escpecialy because Andew Kramer send me here to find help.

So, I am looking forward to get some help by anyone of you.

    Best regards from Berlin, Germany
    Pau

You can find the tutorial Paul mentions here in the Creative COW Library.

Really cool tutorial. A bit complex with the reverse %s and pick whipping, especially when transitioning from Final Cut Pro.

Couldn’t find the “alt” key on my Mac. If when doing the precomp you choose to open up comp in new window non of the pick whipping you do will apply to the video so you really must hit the “alt” key…Humm. I wonder why? anyone know?

Can’t remember the last time I used Final Cut. After seeing what one can do with After Affects. After experimenting with it, there’s no turning back: “Real Time Editing”, no wait for render till finished.
