So this is what I tried to being with, since if works likes this with layers. But for whatever reason I they paste back in the same order not reversed. It doesn’t matter if I select the top or bottom one first, still pasting back in the same order. I tried adding a mask path keyframe to see if that would change it. Any ideas on why it’s not reversing mask order for me?

Why can’t the stroke effect recognise the stacking order in the timeline? Reversing the layers is one thing, but you should be able to move the mask layer up and down in the stack and the stroke effect updates the order. I’m using the stroke effect on some text and I’ve had to separate all the masks onto their own layer to change the stroke order. The only other way I can think off is to rename each mask for example if I want mask 10 out of 50 to be the first mask then I have to move it to a new layer and rename it to mask one. Then, say I want mask 15 to be the second mask I have to move it to the new layer and rename it mask 2 and so on. I wonder if there is any shortcut to this?
