  • Reverse Clip Problem (Speed Change)

Posted by Robert Lawhead on April 20, 2005 at 5:07 am

Several times I’ve needed to reverse the direction of a clip … I highlight it, go to Speed Change and check ‘Reverse’ (with no speed change … I’ve tried frame blending both on and off). It looks great in my viewer and canvas on the computer monitor, but the NTSC monitor looks AWFUL …. very jerky and unsteady. Totally unuseable. My monitor is from the output (S-Video) of an AJA IO. Am I missing something like a setting? …. or could the AJA be having difficulty in doing the math? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

Did you RENDER the reverse clip, then view it externally?

Try reversing the fields. That should fix the problem.

You said you selected it, the clip, did you do this from the time line, was the clip on the time line when you selected it?

    If so, don

Yes, use Graemes reverse filter. FCPs own reverse is horrible. It’s like you described it, very jerky, because of the reversed fields.
    I always use Graemes.
BTW. his Film Effects filters is highly recomended.
