reveal in timeline from browser

I’m not sure I know what that means. But you can of course use the Timeline Index to find/filter clips. And if you see a orange “Used” bar underneath a clip in the event, then that means it’s being used in the active project/timeline.

Which timeline? You DO know that you can easily have a clip in the browser that’s been placed in 100 timelines?

Plus, now a network can have 10 users that might all be referencing the same clip. Should X open ALL those instances.

Do you want it to reveal itself in ALL of them? Are you willing to wait while it loads them all into memory?

If I “reveal in finder” and a back up was on an unmounted drive, I do not think FC would reveal it.

Well, the “used” tag will be there if it’s in any of your open timelines, then you could search that TL for the clip name.

I believe you’re referring to a “reverse matchframe”. All the other majors have it. I think common sense dictates that it would function in the active project especially since only one can be open at a time anyway.

Again, that’s what the Timeline Index is for. Maybe not as one-click, but then you don’t have to look for the clip in the event first either.

A clip is only marked as used in the context of the current active timeline, Bill, so yes, common sense tells me it would of course only be for that timeline. And it works without showing in 100 different places in other NLEs also.

I think the same. It should be easy to check whether a selected clip or region is used in the current project. It makes sense as well – especially when there are copyright issues. In latter case you could use the XML but a right-click or similar would be easier.
