    Hi,

I have been authoring DVDs for a long time with Sony Vegas Pro and recently moved up to Bluray format. I’m having a problem getting the ‘Return to Menu’ to work on an external player remote. In DVDA the Bluray is setup with page 1 having a ‘Play all’ button that links to an all play list, then around 16 thumbs across 4 pages with most being individual clips (scene selection basically). A few of those thumbs go into another scene selection area when the clip is nearing an hour long or more and needs an index.

OK, the problem is with playing the Bluray on an external player after it’s authored. When I enter a movie on an external player there is no way to exit without going all the way to the end of the clip and hitting the natural end action of return to menu. Entering the ‘Play all’ button is a good 80 times of manual chapter skipping on the remote before it can hit the end of the playlist and return to menu. Now the strange part is that while authoring the disc in DVDA 6.0 and previewing the disc, the menu button on the little side remote will return to the menu at anytime in any clip.

How can I make external players respect the ‘menu’ or ‘return’ button similar to how it’s working in the DVDA preview window? All buttons are enabled (see screen shot below).

    Thanks,
    -Andrew

Although DVD Architect is unto version 6, it still has a few
features to add and to fine tune.
Did you try if the feature is present in another brand of
    external DVD player?

I tried both a 2 year old Samsung and a 3 month old newer Sony player.

Seems like a basic function when watching a disc… You go into a video, decide you don’t like it, and want to go back to the main menu without watching all 2 hours of it. This was a standard feature with authoring DVDs and I am surprised Sony forgot to make it work with Blu-ray! 😮

I’ll do a quick test on this and see if its indeed a missing feature.
