    Hi all…

I’m a bit of a newbie in after effects so my apologies right off the bat if this is a simple/dumb question…

How would I go about achieving the effects found in this music video? I am particularly interested in the white star graphic on the left side of the screen and the multicolor outline of the subject on the right side of the screen at 3:33 into the video. Here is the link…

    Thanks!
    Shawn

If I am not mistaken, the white star you’re referring is in the 0:51 sec of the video.

It can be done by creating a star shape by using the shape tool. Most of the glow is achieve by adding Glow effect in the star layer. To achieve the “echo” look of the star, you can use offset animation or use the Echo effect.

The multicolor outline in 3:33 sec can be achieve (there are other ways too) by rotoscoping the man and duplicating it several times, then adding a gradient map over it. Change the distance opacity and add glow effect if you like.
