    Argh.

I am new to illustrator. Using CS6 on a late 2012 mac running iOS 10.8.5.

After going crazy trying to get my pen tool to retain the settings I wanted (by unchecking New Art Has Basic Appearance in the appearance panel), I’m trying to do the same thing with a brush.

I want to be able to use a basic stroke, using the width profile 1, but when I set those specs, as soon as I apply a stroke, it switches the brush definition to 3 pt round. The width profile is still supposedly width profile 1, but it doesn’ show up with the 3 pt round brush definition. I have to switch to my selection tool, select the paths and change each stroke manually.

Is there any reason why I can’t get the settings I want to stick?

    Please help!
