Retain Vector Quality When Using Puppet Tool and 3d Camera

May 13, 2022 at 9:18 pmI’d like to use the puppet tool to do some character movements and still use either a direct layer in my main comp or a pre-composed layer.
The puppet tool breaks in the layer in the same comp if I use it as a 3d layer and move a camera, so I precompose. But I still cannot use the puppet tool and use a 3d approach to move between objects without sacrificing quality even though I’m using vector and continuous rasterize.
I have to turn on the collapse transformations button, which breaks the puppet tool, but retains the vector quality.
Can this be solved? It would really put my videos on the next level.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I think your best bet is to do your puppet work on your vector layer in a precomp at high resolution, so it’s mostly scaling down in the camera comp, instead of scaling up.
