  • Retain original tapes timecode, JVC HD100 when captured?

    Hello,

Does anyone know if its possible to retain the original tapes timecodes with my HDV footage, I captured to Vegas, Cineform, tried to Premiere pro with a lot of difficulty just capturing 2 secs as loosing connenection to the deck, and various other porblems.

Using the tiemcode video filter in Prmeiere Pro i cant seem to get the original tape time codes, I plan to edit on Premiere Pro 2.0 but when I make an AAF or EDL no roginal time codes are here? Just 00:00:00:00 till the end of the captured clip then the next clip has the same timecode process.

So looks like the clips I am captuing from HDV tape do not allow the tiomecode to be retained?

If any one knows a way round or why this is not supported that would be great.

    Thanks,

    Leo

In the effects menu, there is a timecode effect. Apply it, using the option to use your own time code. Put in the first frame’s code, and it should work like a charm.

I had to do this for ten tapes to dump to DVD for someone else to do an EDL. Worked great!

    Thanks for reading!

    Hello,

I tried this as well as I used it before on projects, the timecode is on the JVCHD100u tapes and I see the timecode in Vegas when its captures and Cineform, but when the video clip is put into any of of Vegas, Premeire pro as a test the Timecode was blank with the effect and tried all the options, get time from clip, media, etc.

So maybe it’s a camera fault perhaps or the way this format from the JVC is handled?

    Thanks,

    Leo
