  • Restoring original OSX fonts?

Posted by Micah Mcdowell on October 28, 2008 at 3:22 am

A while back I installed a big bunch of fonts that I got from school, and one of them apparently overwrote a system font and made it act strange (it doesn’t seem to render on screen properly, and the cursor won’t line up with the text that is being typed, if that makes sense). Does anyone know how I can restore all of the stock OSX fonts short of reinstalling the whole os? Thanks.

    hello…

you should be able to extract them from the install cd – there’s a tool called “Pacifist” (https://www.charlessoft.com/) that will let you get files from single archives on the install discs…then go here:

    https://www.jklstudios.com/misc/osxfonts.html

and look for “restoring your fonts” inline – they recommend pacifist as well, and give you more detail on what to do…

    hope that helps!

Excellent… I had looked through the install cds earlier and figured I couldn’t extract them, but this is exactly what I need to know; thanks!
