Restoring a DV Device Connection
Please HELP.
I recieved couple of DV tapes that was recorded oversee with a DV Camera. I’m able to play it with my Sony DCR-VX2000 NTSC camera with no problem. But when I try to capture the footage in my final cut program through a firewire connection, I can control the device but NO VIDEO showing in the computer capture window.
I tired it with a different tape recorded locally, US, with no problem. I also follwoed the recommendation for upgrading my Quicktime version to 7.0, but the problem continues.
Please can anyone help me with this? Do I have to have a PAL system for this?

Wait. Are the tapes PAL?

I do not know how the tapes were recorded, but I can play it without any problem on my NTSC camera. The tape was recorded during our summer mission trip by a person in Uganda.

Does capturing a different tape work?

Yes I can capture a different tape with no problem.

Hmm. But you can watch the tape on your camera?
Have you tried setting the capture preset to PAL and see if it works that way?

I tried that but there is no change. I’m thinking of transfering the clips to my old editing system, “Casablanca”. I do not know if it will work. I have a total of twelve (12) 60 minites tapes to download.
