Not sure if that’s the right term for what I’m trying to do, but it’s the best I could think of.

I have a clip in the timeline that I removed the sound from. Now I’d like to reconnect the sound to the clip. I double clip on the clip which comes up in the viewer marked with in and out points to show the parameters of the edited clip. When I attempt to drag this down to the timeline only the video comes with down.

Anyone know of any easy way to reconnect the sound to the edited clip without having to search through the original media and re clip it again to bring in the sound?

    Thanks!

Park your playhead on the clip. Hit “F” to match back to the original. Note that the IN and OUT points in the viewer are the same spots where they are on the clip in the timeline. Now make sure the audio tabs are connected and hit F-10.

    Hey Shane,

That worked great! Actually f10 on my keyboard activates an expose function instead of what it was supposed to do in FCP, but just the ability to open the the clip with the in and outs in place was a great help. I just dropped it back into the timeline with no problem.
