Restore resolve database without .backup file
So after having dealt with a system drive crash and an unmountable OSX volume, I was able to recover the Library/PostgresSQL file of my original resolve install. I do not have a .backup file from the old resolve database.
re-installed a fresh copy of resolve lite 8.2.2 and tried copying the old postgresSQL folder in place of the new one and resolve can’t locate the database. Have been trolling google and reading docs most of the day to try and find an answer. Tried using the pgAdmin.app and it can connect to the newer database but I wouldn’t begin to know what file to try and restore form the old one.
Would replacing the com.blkmagic.davinci.resolve.plist in the user/lib/pref folder be of any use?
Any way around this or am I stuck? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You might get lucky but I have found postgreSQL is not the easiest thing to restore from a time machine backup.
I think your best contacting davinci help about this as its quite tricky!

Thank you, yes I have written to BM Davinci support team on this issue, hopefully they can shed some light.
Update: using Disk Warrior I was able to rebuild the old OS volume and can now directly acces the files, however I am not able to boot to the drive directly as it keeps giving me a kernel panic.

If I look into my folder /Library/Postgres I see that all files and folders there have ownership for user postgres. So when moving back your older Postgres folder you have to check if the ownership and group membership is correct.

No luck with copying the Postgres directory even after all permissions had exact same access permissions. Is there a certain directory for the actual daatabase files, or should copying over the entire directory work?
There is defiantly project data in the recovered Postgres file, the data folder is 205MB. I’ve tried just replacing the data file itself and checking permissions for user postgres as read/write, resolve still won’t see it.
Going to try and see if PGAdmin can restore from the old database file to the working database from fresh install of resolve.

In a similar situation I was able to do this,but it required my friend who is good in terminal, to set the specific permissions correctly with sudo commands.
It requires very specific permissions to get working. But there is a way to do it.

Not too keen on terminal but if there is a way to re-connect the old database files then it’s worth a shot, would defiantly save the headache of possibly having to re-grade.
