    Hi,

I’m going to purchase the Sony Vegas 10 Suite and was wondering if people could mention their favorite resources for learning Sony Vegas and video editing and authoring in general.

I have used earlier versions of Adobe Premiere for basic editing. I really don’t know how to do much other than splitting clips, removing clips, basic transitions, etc. I just learned using the demo that it isn’t to difficult to try and level the audio so there isn’t such a drastic variation between subjects in the video. I am a video editing novice, but do have good computer skills as a was a software developer for 13 years.

    Thank you.

We have lots of great Sony training videos at VASST. Our Vegas Movie Studio+DVD training DVD is based on version 9 but for what you need to learn, 95% will be the same in version 10. Of course, I work at VASST so it’s my favorite. 😉

Thanks for your reply. For now I was hoping for some free resources since I just spent $$ on Vegas and a BluRay burner (I still can’t believe Vegas 10 doesn’t support AVCHD disk authoring), but maybe I’ll have to check out the video. Thanks again.

You can try YouTube. It won’t be as organized as formal training but there’s a lot of stuff on there. Some good… some not so good… but VASST has some training on YouTube as well under VASSTTraining.

Regarding John Rofrano’s suggestion of youtube, there’s a guy on youtube with a user name of “montagical” that has many good Vegas training videos. I watched several and learned quite a bit when Vegas was new to me. He should turn up if you search youtube for “Sony Vegas training”.

There are some good ones posted by other people too, but there are also some that are a waste of time.

The free VASST videos are excellent and their presentation is very professional.
