    Hello,

I am new in DaVinci Resolve. I am a Premiere user. I want to edit some of my jobs in Resolve now. My workflow is all done in the agency’s external hard drive. I receive all the original camera files and the proxies from the agency and create my project structure in an external hard drive. I need to know how to set my project in an external hard drive and at the end of the job I must send all my work inside this external drive back to the agency. So everything must be at this external hard drive. An editor at the agency must be able to work in my project and make adjustments to it. And also I must have a back up of this project.
Does anybody knows a good article about it?

    Thanks a lot.

I would start with the manual. Resolve uses a database to store the various projects on your system. This database usually lives on the system drive. What you need to understand is how to back up the project files (.drp) from that database to the external drive to transport the project back to another system.

I also suggest you discuss this interchange with the editor at the agency who is supplying you the drive and media. There are lots of basic training videos on YouTube by practitioners like Casey Farris, JayAre, Meisner media etc. You want to get the understanding of setting things up right from the start. I so often see people jump in and assume the system defaults work perfectly for everyone.

Thanks, Michael Gissing. I am reading the Resolve Manual. Going to check this youtubers tutorials you
you have mentioned. And is there a problem to store the media in the same hard disk that I use for store Premiere media? For exemple, save all media in the same folder that I can use for both programs? Or should I store each media in separate folder for each program? Like, I have a folder in my RAID for Premiere Projects and create a folder for DaVinci Resolve Data Base. Should I store the media for Premiere in the Premiere Project folder and the media for DaVinci in the Resolve Data Base folder?

    Thanks a lot.

Another thing, should I create a single Data Base for each new project? So each project has its data base. And therefore if I want to make a projetc back up I just need to copy the corresponding project. Am I right?

    Thanks.

No. It would probably help if you’re doing a lot of episodic content that has multiple seasons. It would help with organizing.
