Resolve “Screen” layer look
I’ve been trying to add a screen layer look in Resolve for some time, and not sure that I’m doing it right.
To be clear, I’m looking for the screen blend look, like a dream, or sexy porno feel.
So is it adding blur to a qualifier luma slope, such as

I’ve tried mist vs blur, and not having any real luck. CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THE SETTINGS?

Watch Burlesque, its full of that “David Hamilton” style.
When I do it, I dont blur the high highlights but more the mids.
But the secret is not the amount of blur, is the blend node to get the sharpness of the original back with adding the haziness.A slice of color…

I looked closely at the manual and couldn’t find anything for a “blend node”
Where would that be?I did see if you labored over dubbling up the shot on a secondary track, turning it into a screen mode, then added blur to that, seems a much more difficult round about way, than to add a “screen blend mode” sort of speak to the end of the shot.

Eric, did you ever come up with a workflow setting for this? I’ve been trying the same thing using the screen and overlay modes but it just seems to blow out the highlights.

Yes, now with the new update, it’s much easier. Try some of the preset examples that are included with 8.1.1. With a layer node set to screen, you can attach to nodes to it, and add some blur to the bottom node.
