Resolve qualified BMD devices
Posted by Paul Provost on March 5, 2012 at 6:16 pmHow come the BMD website product page describes the intensity extreme as qualified for resolve, while the new resolve 8.2 config list does not?

March 5, 2012 at 6:21 pmCan’t speak for BMD… but I do know that all of the BMB Desktop Video driver supported devices seems to work on Resolve (i.e all flavors of Decklink & Multibridge)… haven’t tried any Intensity gear as it’s more consumer focused. The thunderbolt Ultrastudio 3D is mentioned in the config guide.

March 5, 2012 at 6:41 pmyeah this was for a portable system that did not require sdi, so it was purchased because of the description on the bmd product page.
ultrastudio 3D would have been purchased even though it is overkill for this one use, so just need clarification from bmd as to whether it is a false product description and should i exchange/return for a 3D.“Intensity Extreme – $299
Intensity Extreme, the World’s first HD/SD editing solution to feature lightning fast Thunderbolt™ technology. Simply plug in Intensity Extreme to get incredible quality HDMI, component video, s-video and composite capture and playback for Thunderbolt™ based computers. March 6, 2012 at 2:38 amThe config guide lists configs that we regularly use, test and recommend but there are many other BMD cards that do work, and as you found, now that we have Resolve using the Desktop video driver we specified the Intensity on the web site. I don’t expect you will have problems with it.

March 6, 2012 at 3:37 amThanks for replying Peter.
ok…so there are not “officially” supported cards? BMD has “recommended” cards, and cards that we “should not have problems with” ?
not trying to be facetious here, (although I have a weakness for that sort of thing) but for various reasons I really need to know if a config is supported or not, and I don’t want to get lost down a rabbit hole of wondering if it’s me or unsupported hardware when a problem arises.
If the Intensity Extreme is not on the list it seems I should return/exchange for a Ultrastudio 3D?https://www.postandbeam.tv

July 17, 2012 at 7:16 pmI agree with Paul that it would be nice to know which Blackmagic products are supported with which configurations.
For example I tried to use a Decklink Studio 2 card with Resolve on my Windows machine and it does not seem to be fully compatible (getting jumpy playback with the card in the system).
So now I will try a Ultrastudio and hopefully that gives better results.

July 17, 2012 at 7:20 pmi think at this point current cards should basically all work with the new decklink drivers – at least on mac.
might be another issue on your system? -

July 17, 2012 at 7:39 pmI would think they should work as well.
It’s funny that on my Mac system the decklink card works great, but on the Windows system (with newer hardware and better specs) it doesn’t seem to work well (with the card pulled out, the system plays back fine).
Blackmagic told me that Decklink cards are not supported in the Windows config (at least with the ASUS motherboards). Have to go with the Ultrastudio SDI only (at least that’s the only one that is qualified).
