July 14, 2010 at 11:17 amI’ve experience this too. I was almost there to sign a contract to do the gig, but in the last minute the client had the editor do the dirty work.. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry, cause it took too long and the project was delayed. Now, what if they had some dedicated colorist do it instead.. But it’s the ultimate truth. Clients believe the editor can do it – editor says “yes please!” and doesn’t necessary know how or what. In some cases though, the colorist can be an editor and really know what he’s doing, in both worlds.

[Ola Haldor Voll] “Page 99 in the Resolve manual (available at the DaVinci website at BMD)
– Resolve now supports the ability to add unlimited external mattes within a clip. “There are aspects of the hardware Resolve that are not part of the Mac/software Resolve — and I don’t know if this is the appropriate manual, and until there is a Mac-specific publication, I would not bet the farm on a feature/function being carried through the product over all platforms.
For instance, no telecine control or multiple VTR control in TLC… and it would be interesting to know if field assignment is supported for event boundaries… that sort of thing.
