    Hi,

I have created DNXHD media on DaVinci and am bringing it into an Avid Media Composer. When I bring this media into Media Composer 5.0.3.7 it works fine. I access the media through the media tool and pops up and plays with no problems. If I try that same media with Media Composer 5.5.1 it is never seen. I have tried creating the media in both Resolve 7.1 and 7.1.1. Is there any kind of update required to get DNXHD media to work from Resolve in Avid 5.5?

    Thanks
    Dave

One thing to try on the Avid side is deleting database files (.pmr and .mdb files) and the “Creating” directory. They can be found in your Avid MediaFiles directory.

Thanks Josh. I tried that. The interesting thing is that the media database files will rebuild without any errors but when it comes to actually loading the clips, it will not work. Again the same process works fine in MC 5.0.3.7 so it seems something might be slightly different with MC 5.5.1.

    Thanks for you reply.

    Hi Dave,

DNxHD MXF compatibility with Avid MC 5.5 is one of the v8 features. It is known to not work with v7.1.1.

    Regards,
    Rohit

    Thanks Rohit,

    That would explain it then.

This is a terrible way to find this out. We began delivering a job last night and found out the hard way.
