Resolve DB best practices?

Quick follow up question.

I have done project backups (Export+) and also database backups. Strange thing I have found is that the size of one of my project backups is a very similar file size to the entire database backup (with multiple projects in it).

How can this be? Does the database backup not actually contain as much information as a full project backup?
