    Hi guys,

I just upgraded my PC as I am working more in resolve (mainly editing) and finding it is waay more intensive to run.

I am getting frequent crashes, often my PC will be unresponsive for every 1 second out of 5 or similar which is obviously insanely annoying when working to tight deadlines.

Mainly editing footage from FX6, FS7, Pocket 4k. Keeping my timelines to 1080 using stabilisation and some other effects but tbh I find I can have issues in projects without.

    PC specs

Motherboard – MBP b550 gaming carbon wifi
    CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 3950X
Boot – WD Blue SN550 250 GB NVME
    GPU: RTX 3070Ti
    Power supply: Strix 850W

    Running Resolve 17.1.1

Any ideas would be really useful! thanks,

    Josh

A 250 GB HD is usually not large enough to handle the cache necessary for smooth operation. I had to install a 1 TB SSD just to use for cache, and then I need to delete unused cache frequently.

There are many things, often associated with project setup, that can cause crashes, but when the cache fills the hard drive mine crashes every time.

Most of the time it’s the media to blame.

Unless you have a heavy node project.

You’ve listed your boot drive, but not your main storage. What are you running footage off of?

Are you using it for cache as well, or the boot drive? I agree with Tom…that boot drive is too small. Not just for resolve cache, but many windows temp files..can’t imagine its not already full.
