Does anyone know if it’s possible to synch external sound to your dailies and leave the original camera sound on the QuickTime such that you end up with 2 stereo pairs? When I try synching the external sound to my dailies clips, the camera sound is blown over.

My reason for wanting both tracks is that it’s possible to record the camera audio at about 10db less than the external sound and have a back-up track that’s lower to fix any clipping etc. I’m sure there’s a work around for this, but it would be nice to be able to do.

If I synch the audio in FCP X, I can do this, but I lose the timecode reference from my dailies QT’s.

Resolve appears to support 16 tracks of audio, but if I sync using “Link Source Viewer Audio With Video” i lose my original camera guide track.

Did you see the option to extract audio from a video file in Resolve?
You then might be able to add 2x 2 tracks?
    (didn’t try, just a thought).

I’ve tried synching the audio now in Resolve 9b3 and there’s definitely a bug. I go through the procedure of lining up the picture and sound clips in the Conform window: right clicking on the Video clip in the timeline and click “Link Source Viewer Audio with Video”. At that point the External Audio replaces the Camera Audio and I still see only 2 audio tracks in the Levels window. I then render out 4 tracks of audio and get a strange result:

When I import the QuickTime, I get 4 tracks of Audio, but I get 1 Left Track and 3 Right Tracks on the same movie. Perhaps this is the case because I checked “export with audio/4 channels” in the Render settings.

Another question: once you’ve performed a manual sync, can you “unsync” the clip and do it over (if it was wrong for some reason)? There doesn’t seem to be any way of deleting the new audio (or reverting to the old camera audio) once you’ve performed a manual sync.
