Resolve 9 Lite will not recognize our .mov file.
Posted by Brad Ballanger on March 13, 2013 at 6:32 pmHi guys,
Need some help.
After a multitude of terrible issues regarding Premiere XML, I have decided to simply use scene detection to grade a feature film. However, Resolve seems to not even recognize the file whatsoever.
This is a .mov file, 117 GB. Codec is Apple ProRest 422 (HQ), AAC, Timecode.
Anyone have any issues with this? We are trying to make TIFF and in a serious pickle.

March 13, 2013 at 6:59 pm[Brad Ballanger] “Codec is Apple ProRest 422 (HQ)”
That should not be an issue, however, does your source file have a .mov suffix? Resolve won’t see it otherwise.

March 13, 2013 at 7:03 pmYep. I even just renamed it to specifically include .mov – zero dice.

March 13, 2013 at 7:55 pmLooks all good. I am without a clue!
I think, what I would do is try to export a shorter piece to see if the size of the file is bugging your system. Let’s say ten seconds or something. Just to rule that out.

March 14, 2013 at 9:08 pmHi
ProrezHQ with AAC audio encoding is a bit odd combination, maybe you should try to import a prorez file without audio or with uncompressed 16 bit audio/ or 24 bit for that matter. Just render a minute add the .mov extension and try again
hope it helps

May 31, 2016 at 8:18 amSearching MOV to Davinci Resolve in Google and turned to this thread. I have issues when importing MOV files(from Canon) to Davinci Resolve. By searching further, I know MOV is a container format which can contain data encoded using various compression and encoding schemes. If your MOV files are not accepted by your Resolve, it’s probably because of the video or audio codec incompatibility. On this occasion, you need to transcode MOV to DaVinci Resolve preferred DNxHD or ProRes files and then transfer the converted MOV files to DaVinci Resolve for editing.
