The Face Refinement tool saves significant time as it captures the face outline and automatically creates independent masks for eyes, forehead, cheeks and chin that can each be adjusted for saturation, brightness, and so on. It all seems to work much better than in Resolve 14.3.

BUT it still exhibits the problem of briefly spontaneously shrinking the mask outline.
That is, it will launch its analysis frame by frame and create a face outline. And this seems to work much more quickly and accurately. Until it stumbles and spontaneously shrinks the outline to perhaps half the normal size. It seems to recover reliably and continue its analysis but that shrunken portion remains.

The shrunken portions make the entire track unusable.

Any fix or work around for these defective sections????

With Resolve tracking, one has a keyframed timeline and one can delete sections where the track drifted or otherwise failed. Then one can re-do the tracking for that portion of the timeline.

Any similar fix for the Face Refinement tool???

    Thanks, Mike
