Is Resolve 14 backwards compatible to 12.5.5?

Specifically, if I do a quick and rough grade in Resolve 14 and then send it to a colorist to really get to work on it, can they open the project in 12.5.5 in their suite?

There may be some things about it that 12.5 won’t be able to cope with. If you are simply doing some RGB spot correction, why not just do it in 12?

Absolutely. That’s what I ended up doing.

I was considering checking out 14, because my Mac was choking a bit on the UHD footage and I had heard that 14 a bit easier on the resources. But I just ended up creating 1/2 resolution optimized media in Resolve 12, and doing the rough correction in an HD timeline worked like a charm.

    Thank you

I don’t think you’ve ever been able to open a newer version of a project in an older version of Resolve.
I’m pretty sure even going from 12 to 12.1 would kill it. Thats why it is so important to back up everything before trying a new version.
