    hi !
i would like to use still images in a final cut pro project.
unfortunately does fc always try to fit the images fullscreen. so if the image does not have the correct ration i end up having grey frames left and right or up and down. the image also is always placed in the center of the screen. is there any way to move the image where i want it to be and scale it like i want it to be scaled (like the transform oprtion in photoshop for example)
    cheers

What version of the application are you using? In the current version there is a user preference which determines how images are handled when edited into a sequence. It defaults to fit to window. To scale and reposition, the simplest way is to switch the View popup in the canvas to image+wireframe. You can then drag a corner to resize the image, drag the image around the screen to reposition it, and many othe things, which you can read about in the manual or other training materials.

    All the best,

wow, that would be convenient! A drag and scale within the window, would greatly reduce time spent fumbling with the numbers, i suppose one more reason to upgrade.

These have been FCP capabilities since v1.

Another thought is that by using Photoshop, you can have Photoshop resize the images to your preferred dimension using an automate function. When you import the images into FCP, all the images will have the same dimensions and fit the screen as you want and not as FCP thinks you want.
