  • Resetting Scratch Disk outside of FCP?

Posted by Jackie Zabel on October 11, 2012 at 7:52 pm

    Greetings!

So I’m having trouble opening FCP 7. It worked fine…until I set the scratch disk to the desktop. Now, every time I try to open final cut, it quits right away.

I realize now that this was a bad call. Since FCP won’t allow me to reset the scratch disk now, I was wondering if there was a way to reset it in Terminal or somehow externally.

    I already tried re-installing it…

Thanks in advanced for any feed back you can give!

Try using Digital Rebellion’s Preference Manager to trash the preferences.

Once you have reset prefs, it is not good practice to have your scratch disk the same as your system disk. It should always be set to either an external drive or a separate internal drive.

Also while doing the prefs management, also repair permissions in disk utility.
