    Hi all,
this is my first post, Alberto is my name.

I have a week trying to understand something that I think is very simple. It’s all about the setting Resample (Smart, Force, Disable); ok, I understand that this setting is directly related to slow/speed motion, some people want to get a smoother video and leave this option in “smart” while others prefer a clearer picture and leave this option to “disable”. All this is well understood.
But now comes my question: apart from this implication on slow/speed motion, this setting of Resample serves a little more than that? I ask this because I did not use the slow/speed motion or something like that, so I have to worry about the way this setting is or not?

    For example:
    1. video HD 1920×1080 to SD mainconcept mpeg2 720×576, without using the slowmotion or something like this, does it matter how this setting of “Resample” is?
    2. video SD aviDV 720×576 to SD mainconcept mpeg2 720×576, without using the slowmotion or something like this, does it matter how this setting of “Resample” is?

Thanks for any response or information and forgive my bad english, Alberto/Spain.

Ok, I found more information about this and I understand perfectly that the setting “Resample” is directly related with slow/speed motion and with any change of the number of frames of a video (for example 30 fps to 25 fps or 50 fps to 25 fps).

So, my last question is the following: “Resample” also affected in some way the quality of a video when you only changed the resolution of this, nothing more? (for example 1920×1080 25p to 720×576 25p). Or in this case does not matter?

I ask all these things because it is very important for me to understand the subject. All my video editing is reduced to two things:
    1. 1920×1080 50i to 1920×1080 50i (for blu-ray) and 720×576 25i (for dvd)
    2. 720×576 25i to 720×576 25i (for dvd)
Never change the velocity of the video.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can clarify this two recent examples if the setting “Resample” have any significance or not.

    Thanks, Alberto.

Ok, I see that I have no luck in receiving any information on this subject;I believe that this is an important issue.
I hope that not ask for much, I don’t want to be pushy. I repeat, I understand perfectly well that when doing a velocity change in a video the option “Resample” is very important.

But, if I will make just a change of format 1920×1080 50i to 720×576 25i , without any slowmotion, the way of “Resample” option will still important? Now we talk just about a number of frame changed, nothing more.

    Thanks again for any answear,
    A. Gonzales Ondoño.
