  • Rerendering at Full Quality?

Posted by Richard Krause on December 23, 2005 at 3:43 am

In FCE HD I can set the Sequence Settings ro render at low frame rates and resolution to make rendering quicker and edit viewing quicker…but then how do I rerender at 100% at a later time so I can output full quality?
Thanks for any help anybody can give on this basic issue,
    Richard

I’m not sure how you are rendering at low quality. The only way to do that is to change the sequence settings to a lower framerate, etc.

To render it at full quality, just copy the contents of the sequence to another sequence that has the proper settings. Final Cut will always reference the source media, not the low-quality render files. So you don’t have to worry about it.

Thanks so much for your help. But let me ask one more thing. Taking your advice, it appears that even if I only work on a small portion of a sequence with rendering set low, when I copy the sequence to a new sequence I have to rerender the entire sequence. Is there anyway just to rerender the portion of the sequence that hasn’t already been rendered at full quality?

Not sure about FCE, but in FCP you can select specific clips or areas to render or do a render all. Try Cmd+A to select everything in your timeline, then CMD+R to render selection.

What you say does work for rendering, but not for re-rendering at new sequence settings.
