Activity Forums Maxon Cinema 4D Rerender only one object/texture? (keeping occluding objects)

    Update:
I turned off everything (color, reflection, etc.) from all other materials (except transparency) to achieve what I need. (and added an object buffer)

If I didn’t need the transparency (I have semi-transparent objects that move in front of my material I’m re-rendering) I could’ve just globally applied a nothing-material to the top level of my Object manager and deleted all texture tags except the material I want to preserve.

Both methods feel like a hack, since I destroy my file making these changes. Is there a better way?

I could also just assign an object buffer to my material and re-render, but part of the problem is that 1. I need the re-render (i.e. can’t just fix it in AE) and 2. I’m trying to save time, since the orig render took 2 weeks in-house.

Cinema doesn’t have a material ID buffer, unfortunately. If you had rendered with a color pass and object buffer it could’ve made the job easier. The color pass just gives flat colors, so you can use a color picker to create mattes more easily.
