Required to resave AE7 projects when opening in CS3
Howdy Cows,
Ok, so I have a bunch of eLearning DVD tutorial projects I’ve done in PP2.0 and AE7; taking advantage of the awesome Dynamic Link. I’ve now upgraded to CS3 and I’ve been working on getting those into Flash via Encore’s new Export to Flash option. Really cool feature… some nuances, but still way cool and will only get better… I just know it!
Here’s my thing:
In PP CS3, I can see my AE7 comps in the Project panel, but the media links appear to be broken. In an attempt to fix them, one additional thing I tried after I tried to relink the media, only to have it respond the same way as if it was indeed a broken link, was opening them up in AE CS3 via the Dynamic Link functionality – Right-click>”Edit Original” used to open the comp AE7 so I could do my thing. This option is listed, but grayed out. Ouch! Why?
Not only that, but when I navigate to the location of the AE7 comp and try to open it in AE CS3, I get a message saying it was created in 7 and needs to be saved separately in CS3. I thought it was kinda weird, but I went along with it. I ran into no issues in doing so either. There were no media link breaks in the AE comps.
After a considerable amount of time, the links finally updated in PP after I saved over my AE7 project with the CS3 one and re-imported the “new” comps into the PP CS3 proj. But I still can’t “Edit Original” from PP CS3. I figure Dynamic Link is working because I can successfully import the AE CS3 comp into the PP CS3 proj.Is this a bug of some sorts? Is there something I missing here configuration-wise?
I seriously got used to this workflow, and now it’s seemingly gone. 🙁Help?
Thanks yall!
